Look @ the stud in the middle!!

A lot of speakers "throwin down"

Family and Friends,

Well things are starting to warm up here and its about freakin time i get a summer since i got robbed in the mtc were it snowed during the spring. Things are all good here. On saturday we went up to central santiago to listen to Elder Scott speak!! It was way sweet he threw down on how to use the introduction of the book of mormon to help our investigators understand and on temple marriage. It was waaay good, the spirit was so strong, the coolest was when he went to walk out he came back to the pulpit and left us with a blessing of protection, and thats when the spirit was way strong. Oh and he spoke in spanish, it was way cool to listen to that. Elder Corbridge also threw down on why our message is important to people and its because it is their salvation and how we need to stress that this is the way of God which is the only way! I was also able to talk to Elder Richins from my district, he´s so stinkin funny, he´s doing way good down south, which i have to go down there, it is way beautiful and packed with horses, my kind of town thats for sure. Ha Elder Hale my comp from the mtc who weighed less than me in the mtc is getting fat!! Me im still doing good but i am pretty concious and try to work out really good every day. Then we went to the mall and i had taco bell for lunch, it almost felt like i was in america for a bit till i hit the nasty street of lower Santiago once agian, our part of town is so dirty, it makes me laugh. Oh i also rode the subway for the first time, it was pretty interesting, one of the elders almost got caught in the door that was pretty funny. This week was a touch slow for finding and teaching so please pray that we can find people this week. I went on divisions twice with Elder Jaime from Chile and Elder Mayans again... it was way sweet, Elder Jaime and I contacted this Evangleical who told us that President Monson was dead... haha we straightened her out on that one. And made fun of all the gangsters when the asked us what our names were, every stinkin flyte asks us that here. So we ramble off gibbirish and they think we are speakin english. Then on thursday i taught some cool lessons with Elder Mayans, I swear he has a gift, we found some lady taught her for 10 mins and he stuck her with a fecha!! It was way sweet, then i taught the smartest ten year old i have ever seen.... She´s evangelical but she knows that her church isn´t true... she just says its more fun, so we explained about the church a little and i commited her to pray about the church and the bom again. At the end of the night Elder Mayans told me that i improved a ton from the first time i went on divisions with him. That was pretty cool to hear that from him. We´ll it looks like we have 4 baptisms coming up this week, Daniela and Tamara (Two of Miguels daughters which he is going to baptize). Then this couple that´s getting married this week and, the lady has been investigating for 11 years and is finally getting married! So we get to baptize her and her husband. We just have to speed teach the rest of the lessons so we can interview them this thursday. Miguel is so sweet, he went to the temple this friday and he loved it. I feel bad cause you can really tell that he wants his wife to get baptized so they can get married in the temple but she is super stubborn, she just doesn´t want too yet, so pray that her and her daughter will feel the spirit so they can get to the temple in a year. Then we have a fecha for the 12 of Sept with the Dad of the other family we are teaching, the rest should follow soon, they are a way good family. Oh i got all of the stains out of my muddy clothes too! you´d be way proud mom!! Well I think that´s about all for this week I´m gonna go cut my hair and buy some food! Thanks for all that you do! I love you all be safe and you are always in my prayers!!!

2 months down in Chile!

Hullo family and friends!!
Well another great week in the mission, lets see.... oh i have been forgetting to tell you that for the last 3 weeks i have been sleep talking in spanish so i hope that means i have improved. Elder Saranzig from Ecuador always hears me in the night, he says i bear my testimony and teach lessons, thats right, even atnightime i dont stop. Maybe im dreaming about future investigators!! Who knows!! But yeah the language is going good, talking about the gospel is getting easier but to try to talk about other things is a bit of a struggle but I´ve been told several times that for being here only two months i speak really well, i dont know about that tho. We found a really sweet girl named Camila and her little brother Benjamin, we taught them a short lesson about prayer and they both prayed after, in the prayer the girl talked about how much she liked our visit! The spirit was really strong. So we set up another appiontment but the next time we met her mom who was tan tan fome ( so so lame). She didn´t want anything to do with us and won´t let us teach the daughter even tho technically we don´t need her permission since the daughter is 19 but we are just gonna respect her and pass by in the future. But we did have a sweet lesson with this old guy named marcos, we taught him a few weeks back but he didn´t really understand the bom and was afraid to read it and just wanted to stick with the Bible... but we fixed that with the spirit. We broke down lesson one like crazy and taught about prophets and the authority and he understands everything perfectly!! When we asked him if he got an answer to his prayers if he would get bapitzed he said yes!! We didn´t set a fecha with him but we will tomorrow! Miguel was confirmed and recieved the aronic priesthood this sunday, wow the spirit was so strong there, now he can baptize his family!! I´m really excited for that. The rest of the fam is moving along pretty well, they really like the church so hopefully soon he can baptize them. Im attatching what pics i can to send to ya! Yesterday we had a sweet lesson with Margarita and she understands the whole restoration and everything now and she told us she would be baptized too if she recieves her answer, so we are waiting on that one, hopefully this week too. Sometimes it gets way tough with people not wanting to listen but not everyone is ready to hear. And that just makes me think about what they need to hear, what i need to say to them, so i just gotta keep stretching myself. This saturday we get to see Elder Scott give a talk!! The whole mission is getting together with santiago west to see him. It´s gonna be so sweet!! Dang we are coming up on Halloween in another 2 months, thats so crazy, time is flying by, it goes even faster when we work hard. I really love the mission and the people of our ward, one other thing, i forgot to pray before a lesson and when Elder Mitchell turned the time over to me i had nothing to say, that´s never happened before, usually i have the words in english and i may struggle to translate them but this time there was nothing, i didnt struggle speaking, i just didn´t know what to say, so that goes to show that without the spirit you cant work. The spirit is key, really we are just guides to help the people out and as the study and pray the spirit testifies to them and they make the changes themselves. I´m already half way through this second change... way crazy one more here in Santiago and then ill probably head down south. That would be way sweet cause thats out in the country where i belong!! It is fun to live in the ghetto cause i never will again after the mish... we heard gunshots the other night, that was pretty crazy, don´t worry all the flytes here are so stinkin scrawny and too high and toasted to do anything to us. Haha i did contact three drunks this week, that was pretty interesting. Well everyone ive gotta run, i hope things are going great at home, it sounds like they are, just keep prayin for me i need all the prayers I can get. Thanks for all you do for me!! I love you all!!!

FIRST BAPTISM!!

Yup Miguel was baptized and I baptized him!! It was such a great expirience for me even tho beforehand i was so stinkin nervous i was gonna drop him in the water or say the prayer wrong. But I nailed it! It was way way awesome and it looks like the rest of his family will follow very very soon. I love that family so much, really spiritual expirience, i wish you all could have been there. Sorry i would send pictures but the computer wont load all my pictures, ive tried everything i can and i can´t get them to load, im gonna have to go to a different place from now on. This week was kind of different because elder mitchell and basically everyone else who wasnt new had a meeting so i went on divisions with Elder Nicol from the mtc and Elder Carabajal from the Argentina. It was so sweet, we had a ton of fun and got some work done. Elder Carabajal is so funny, really good Elder he really knows how to teach. We were able to give a blessing to a guy in Carabajal´s ward that has cancer, it was a really good expirience and the guy has such a strong testimony of the church even tho all that is going on. Reminded me of the our family with Rae and Dad and the Hill family. Trust in God, that´s something that Joseph Smith said a ton but it is so profound and true. So at the meetings president macarthur wants to double the number of baptizms in the mission. The church also has 9 new lessons for the missionaries to study. We are really focusing on teaching the pure doctrine of Christ. Elder Mitchell and I have tried some of the new things in our contacts and lessons and they are so sweet, it makes it more like a conversation and I feel more like I´m helping the person then just teaching a lesson. Haha the dog story, so we went to go to work in another ward, all of the missionaries in our zone and on the way there was two dogs fighting andt this old lady was trying to beat them off with her cane so her two dogs wouldnt kill the other, so Elder Jaime grabbed the cane and completely missed the dogs and busted the cane on the cement. That old lady was so pissed and she was swearing up a storm! It was all i could do to not laugh. I got my package! I love my ring and the peach rings and the missionary cards and of course my rope. Which i ended up roping elder mayans in a talent show that our ward had saturday night, i had a sweet poncho adn a sombrerro on that i borrowed from hermano facondi! Ill try to send pics of that too when i can get a better computer! I did the butterfly then flipped in on Elder Mayans head and caught him. thanks for the pics too, everyone is fascinated by them. Oh branding and dehorning cattle sounds sweet, like i told some of the people in the ward i´ve gone from roping cattle to souls for two years. Happy Birthday Kiki!!! I almost used your favorite scripture para dar un palo en Marcela. That means throw down on Marcela. She was complaining about how people keep the commandments so i thought about it and found DC 122 were it talks about the gapping jaws of hell swollowing you up and how it would be for your own good and how christ descended below all of that. ¿Eres tu mejor que el? Art tho greater that he?(C So that´s my favorite scripture for the week. Things here are great, time is really flying by fast, its almost been four months, summer at home is about over. Gosh that´s so weird to think of. I still imagine things at home being the same, but they are all changing. i think thats one of the biggest things that people fear is change, but if you take what you´ve got and make the best of it you will grow as a person, that´s what I´m attempting. Well thats all for this week, I´m sure next week will be even better. Alright love you all Thank you, keep me in your thoughts and prayers, i can´t do anything without the Lord´s help.

Wuv,
Elder Chance Roy

Taylor Swift in Chile

I´ve had some super amazing experiences... well for me they were. So thursday i contacted this evangelical pastor, he had a super nice house and a car which you know that he was taking the donations that should be edifying Gods kingdom and living off of them. So he started to slam Joseph Smith and how the BOM isn't worthy to be scripture and how we dont need prophets because if we believe in Christ then we have the authority and he was interpreting scripture like a weiner... So needless to say i was pissed. This is what i wanted to say.... oh really so who gave you the authority to interpret scripture? And if i believe in Christ and recieve the authority of God then your members don´t need you because they can go start their own churches, that would suck for you since they donate their money to your church thinking they will get salvation and all you are givin them is FALSE HOPE!! So why don´t you ask God if he would go organize a church without a prophet and apostles because he would not do that! Now i can pretty much say all that in Spanish, not exactly that but i can get that same point across, but i could not speak, my tongue was bound - the Spirit was not with me. All i could say was that he needed to trust in God and pray. I struggled for like 15 minutes to say anything while my comp was talking to him. I was physically tired after that and we had to sit down. It was a really good experience for me that showed me without the Spirit i cant do anything, everything i have is because of God, and he will be defended in the humble way that he wants to. Earlier that day we found a lady that i taught my second day here, well if you could call it that, i could only say a little bit but this time i feel like i taught really well, so im thankful to God for all that i have learned and i'll just keep going. So we have a baptism this sunday, Miguel is so ready, is family is progressing too so were thinkin that he´ll get baptized and then he can baptize his family, how sweet would that be!! We also found another family and the mom wants her son to learn more about God so we taught them the first lesson then taught him how to pray cause the first prayer he said was a memorized catholic one, but when he prayed the second time i really felt the Spirit so strong, really awesome!! So yeah keep Miguel in your prayers i really want to see him get baptized, his family is so cool, his wife made me a sweet cup with pictures of some cool places in chile and a quote with my name at the bottom. Katie is kickin butt in rodeo, i knew she would. Yeah four months is coming up fast!! I love the mission, i wouldnt change where i am for the world, even tho i miss you all i know ill be blessed for life from this. Oh the talk that i love by Holland is called saftey for the soul, its way good, it talks about how in these last days satan is gonna really attack us as individuals and the family, but we have the book of mormon to help us. oh kate i heard taylor swift the other day, reminded me of you, i thought i wasn´t gonna hear that broad for two years, i aint that lucky. ] gosh what else happened! Really sweet dog fight that ended in Elder Jaime breaking this lady´s cane and she was so pissed, it was so funny. Alright time is up, that´s all for this week, i have a cold but other than that health is good. Mom would die if she could see how muddy i am from soccer this week!! Thank you for all you do, i love you all so much be safe and keep praying, i need all the prayers i can get!!

1st time through changes

here i sit in this dumpy ciber typin an email! We had changes yesterday, I'm still with Elder Mitchell who is so legit, don't worry, we get along no problems! But one of my zone leaders, elder hardman who i lived with left! I was hoping he would die as my zone leader (he only has one change left till he goes home, they call it dying). He is way sweet, he had some awesome stories and he made the house way fun. But elder mayans new comp is sweet, Elder mitchell has also been made district leader. I got the peanut butter this wednesday!! Ah thank you so much, ive almost ate the first jar, don't worry i'll slow down on the next. So this week has been just a touch slow. It was hard to find anyone at home because there was no school so everyone headed down south for vacaciones, but we did have some good lessons and we still have our fecha for the 8th. Miguel and his family came to church again for the full three hours! They really like church, miguel is so ready to get baptized but the rest of the fam lacks in testimony, so we will be patient. I had an interview with president macarthur on wednesday, he's way awesome and im really excited to work with him for the next two years. Weather here has been pretty good, only a bit of rain this week but super super cold. I also have a touch of a cough and sore throat but am battling it with mate and echinacia. Ill send a pic of me next week drinking mate out of a grape fruit! its super good, you just clean out the grapefruit like a pumpkin and eat the insides then put the mate and some juice in and drink away! Yes i'm so excited to get my rope! Ha i showed familia Facondi and Miguel and his family my pictures from home. They asked if we lived in texas cause we all have cowboy hats on! I thought it was prettty funny! So a funny experience, there is this drunk guy that we see a lot, he's always so hammered that you can barely understand him. Well he wanted a blessing so he put our hands on his head and commanded us to talk and we just tried not to laugh, so he said ill give the blessing then. so as he held our hands to he head he proceeded to dance around and say random stuff to God. Yeah it was pretty sweet. Yeah the language is still coming along, sometimes i am lost in a conversation but why get frustrated and make it harder than it is?! The best thing to do is be happy and work, and to love the work. Its awesome to see the gospel change peoples lives and how much it truly helps us. Oh one lesson we had with a family we have taught once or twice the wife said that lots of testigos and other missionaries had passed by but we were the first she had ever let in because she said she feels really good when we are there talking to her. It goes to show that anyone can talk about God, but the spirit is what gets us into people's homes. Without the spirit and gods help we are nothing. Do not worry about me just pray thats all, things are way good here and it can only go up from here as i learn more and more! Well i got to run, sounds like all is well at home, thanks for all you do.
Love,
Elder Roy
